Welcome and Announcements                                                    John Strawbridge

Choral Introit O Worship The Lord (McCutchan)

O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness;
Serve Him with gladness, all the earth. Amen.

Prayer of Invocation (All)

God of the harvest, from seed and sun you have blessed us with a harvest to help feed the world. For this we give you our highest thanks. You also offer us seed and sun for the times of famine in our lives. In the times we know the famine of silence and grief, cause us to remember you as the God of harvest. For with you, the faith we offer serves as seed for the harvest of your life-giving food. In Christ’s name. Amen.

Opening Hymn “We Gather Together” UMH 131

1. We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing
He chastens and hastens his will to make known
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing
Sing praises to his name, he forgets not his own
2. Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining
Ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine
So from the beginning the fight we were winning
Thou, Lord, were at our side, all glory be thine!
3. We all do extol thee, thou leader in battle
And pray that thou still our defender will be
Let thy congregation escape tribulation
Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

Old Testament Lesson Ezekiel 34:11-12, 15-17 NIV

11 “‘For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. 12 As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.
15 I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign Lord. 16 I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice.
17 “‘As for you, my flock, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will judge between one sheep and another, and between rams and goats.

Pastoral Prayer

Lord’s Prayer

Choral Response Cares Chorus TFWS 2215

I cast all my cares upon You
I lay all of my burdens down at Your feet
And any time I don’t know just what to do,
I will cast all my cares upon You.

Gospel Lesson                                                                                 Matthew 25:31-46 NIV

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Sermon      “We Can Make A Difference”                                    Rev. Debbie Scott

Presentation of Pledge Cards on the Altar

L: We give because we need to give——to express in tangible, material ways what our priorities are; to express that all we are and all we have come from God; to give witness to the importance of God’s justice and love for all people. This morning, in particular, we give witness to the significance of God’s work through the ministry of this congregation as we bring forward our pledge cards for the coming year and commit our financial stewardship to God.
(Pledge Cards will be placed on the altar)

My Tribute Andrae Crouche  Soloist, Brandon Shaw McKnight

1. How can I say thanks
For the things you have done for me
Things so undeserved
Yet You gave to prove your love for me
The voices of a million angels
Could not express my gratitude
All that I am and ever hope to be
I owe it all to thee

Refrain: To God be the glory, to God be the glory
To God be the glory,
For the things He has done
With His blood He has saved me
With His power He has raised me
To God be the glory,
For the things He has done

2. Just let me live my life
And let it be pleasing Lord to thee
And should I gain any praise
Let it go to Calvary

With His blood He has saved me
With His power He has raised me
To God be the glory
For the things He has done

Refrain: To God be the glory, to God be the glory
To God be the glory,
For the things He has done

With His blood He has saved me
With His power He has raised me
To God be the glory,
For the things He has done

Stewardship Covenant (All)

I recognize that all I have or ever hope to have is mine in trust only. I will manage the resources entrusted to me in ways that advance God’s kingdom of love and goodness. I covenant to grow and to fulfill my Christian stewardship in response to God’s graciousness. In God’s strength I will earnestly endeavor to fulfill this covenant. Amen.

Offertory

For the beauty of the earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.

For the beauty of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon, and stars of light,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.

For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth, and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise

Offering Prayer (All)

On this day of plenty and abundance, we are led to share out of our wealth. Receive these gifts and use them that others may receive from the abundance of this congregation. For home, for family, for friends, for all those blessings by which life becomes more meaningful and time more precious, we thank you Lord. Amen.

Closing Hymn “Now Thank We All Our God” UMH 102

1. Now thank we all our God
with heart and hands and voices,
who wondrous things has done,
in whom his world rejoices;
who from our mothers’ arms
has blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love,
and still is ours today.
2. O may this bounteous God
through all our life be near us,
with ever joyful hearts
and blessed peace to cheer us,
to keep us in his grace,
and guide us when perplexed,
and free us from all ills
of this world in the next.
3. All praise and thanks to God
the Father now be given,
the Son and Spirit blest,
who reign in highest heaven
the one eternal God,
whom heaven and earth adore;
for thus it was, is now,
and shall be evermore.

Benediction

The God of laughter sends you out.
So we can share joy with everyone.
The Brother of the poor sends you out.
So we may bring hope and healing to the broken and despairing.
The Spirit of wonder sends you out.
So we may join all creation in offering thanks.

Choral Benediction God Be With You Till We Meet Again (Vaughan Williams)

God be with you till we meet again;
By His counsels guide, uphold you,
With His sheep securely fold you;
God be with you till we meet again.
